This obituary was written about Mary Sawyer Thompson and was placed in the "Tribune" a local newspaper.
After a lingering illness of many months Mrs. Mary W. Watson passed to her rest Thursday afternoon, November 8. Deceased was 81 years of age having been born in Limington, Maine, April 22, 1825. In 1850 she was married to Mr. W. H. Watson and together they came to Minnesota in the early fifties, locating in Lakeville township where they remained until 1893 when they moved to Farmington, where Mr. Watson died some years ago.
Two daughters survive, Miss Hattie Watson and Mrs. Munroe Harris.
During her long illness Mrs. Watson was cared for by Miss Watson who was tirelss in her loving tenderness toward her mother and faithful unto death. For the surviving family the sympathy of the whole community goes forth.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the home on Oak Street. Rev. James Rodgers officiting. The bearers were her six grandsons, the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Harris. The floral offerings were many and beatuful last tributes to a good woman and a true friend.
